About the Team
Designer Capital was founded on the idea that mortgage services and financing were not a one size fits all system that should burden clients with confusing process, few answers, and closed doors. Our team is experienced in finding the solution that is just right - and our goal is to facilitate a process that’s easy and smooth for our clients.
Early on, we realized that not only are there differences in the products lenders offer but also in the documentation each lender needs to fund a mortgage once it’s been approved. The back and forth that goes into getting all the finer details handled can be as in-depth as getting the initial approval. The only way to get all of this done and still provide quality advice to every client we serve was to bring on an amazing team.
We’re proud of our lending experience and our highly developed intellectual property - an understanding of banking policies that standard rate hubs & policy aggregators cannot match.
Tyler
Tyler’s unique approach to mortgages is at the core of what we do - designing tailored mortgage solutions for each and every client! Before becoming a broker, Tyler had a long career within the banking industry as both a bank branch manager and a construction lending specialist. He is driven to help people solve complex problems they feel are in the way of achieving their dreams. He is a family man, who values the time he and his children spend together, from the very first time he carried them right through to playing sports with them today. Not often without a coffee in hand, Tyler is someone for whom hard work comes naturally, and who will work hard with the team to find the right mortgage strategy for you.
Ben
Ben is the man at the helm holding the team together - ensuring we help every client as quickly as possible all the way through the mortgage process! With a background in Olympic rowing, and with his previous experience as an Olympic level coach, Ben brings a dedication to excellence and tremendous work ethic to everything he does. His next big travel destination will be Italy, where we can sip coffee at a café reflecting on the great work he does for our team.
King
King is an associate on the commercial team at Designer Capital Inc. He is responsible for underwriting mortgage transactions and providing debt structuring advice across all major asset classes with a focus on land and construction financing. King holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance and real estate.
Frank
Frank is our Commercial Manager with over 20 years of Commercial Lending experience. He specializes in construction financing for projects of all sizes. From conventional, private or CMHC financing, he can determine custom-tailored solutions to help add value to your project and achieve your financing goals. His extensive experience and understanding of commercial deals working in various Financial Institutions over his career allows him to provide exceptional debt structuring advice. Helen
Helen brings her skills from a rich and varied career background to provide both mortgage assistant and technical support to the team. From veterinary technician / business owner through to developing a global software customer success team, Helen settled in the mortgage world as a licensed mortgage assistant. She is driven by helping people to be successful, and loves using technology to streamline and automate processes. Having travelled Europe extensively before emigrating to Canada, Helen is now working on checking off all US states! If she's staying local, you'll find her out in nature exploring beautiful Vancouver Island. Helen's organization and passion for customer service, combined with wanting to help you reach your goals, ensures the entire operation flows smoothly.
Sean
Sean works his magic and wizardry over your file, to find just the right lender for your file to give you exactly the mortgage strategy you and Tyler decided upon. He loves being a part of helping clients achieve their goals, not just with real estate, but in life in general. Prior to joining the Designer Capital team, he was a successful independent mortgage broker and bank mortgage specialist for several years. Perhaps not the most musically inclined, given that he would name his garage band “Listen With Caution”, don’t let that stop you for a second: Lenders listen to him every day as they send back approval after approval for your file and countless others.
Travis
Possibly one of the first people you’ll meet from our process team, Travis works diligently with you to gather all the documents necessary to present your file to our lender partners. Born in Alberta, and with a background in both Finance & Insurance, Travis is well-positioned to help guide you towards getting that document package “perfect”. On a day off, you might find him playing or watching sports, spending time with his dog; or he might be simply fishing with his family. Or perhaps, on a week off, you might find him walking through the deep history of The Netherlands. Don’t walk away, though! Travis’ speed and detail-oriented nature make him the right choice for getting your file started off on the right foot.
Kelly
Kelly takes your file from “Approved” to “Complete!”. With a background in bank management, her attention to detail and cheerful demeanour means you will feel calm and collected as we help you move through the final steps of your mortgage process right through to funding. Her favourite hot drink is the dreamy London Fog, which she has close at hand while she’s busy helping people achieve their dreams, buying their dream house in their dream neighbourhood. Speaking of dreams...Kelly hopes one day to travel to Costa Rica, a far cry from her Newfoundland beginnings. You’ll be in good hands once Kelly has your file, and soon you’ll be on your way to your own dream life.
